What is “Breastfeeding and Lactation MedicinE?”
A Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine physician is more than a physician lactation consultant. Dr. Rubin is able to go one step further when lactation consultants have reached the limits of their scope of practice. There are times when knowledgeable physician involvement is crucial, and Dr. Rubin brings years of experience and extensive training in lactation to her practice to provide you with the necessary evaluation, work-up, and treatment you need.
Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine is a niche for physicians who have extra training in lactation and includes a range of services related to infant feeding. Physicians like Dr. Rubin who practice Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine can not only help with basic breastfeeding education and assistance, but they can evaluate, diagnose, and treat more complicated medical problems that arise. They are an essential part of your breastfeeding team if you are experiencing barriers to a successful and enjoyable lactation journey. Dr. Rubin is known in the Chicagoland lactation community as an experienced, skilled, and caring clinician, and has been practicing Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine for over 5 years now. She recently became board-certified as a Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Physician by the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. She is honored to be in the first cohort of physicians to be certified, and she is one of only a few certified physicians in the Chicagoland area.

CHECK TO SEE IF YOU CAN USE YOUR INSURANCE BENEFITS TO COVER A PORTION OF YOUR SERVICES!
Our patients can now use their insurance benefits for lactation services through our partner, The Lactation Network (TLN). This will cover a portion of your services provided by Dr. Rubin. To check your benefits through TLN, click here.
If you are not covered through The Lactation Network, you may still be able to receive after-service out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance. We will provide a Superbill receipt for this purpose upon request.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY VISIT?
Our practice is not contracted directly with any insurance companies. This allows us to spend the additional time with our patients that we feel is necessary for good care. We have several options to help offset or ease the cost of your visits.
THE LACTATION NETWORK
You may be covered for your lactation services through TLN if you have the following insurance: Blue Cross PPO, Blue Shield PPO, United Health Care (in-person visits only), Anthem PPO, Humana PPO, and VA CCN (Veterans Affairs Community Care Network) plans as well as most plans that utilize MultiPlan and PNOA. Please note that TLN does not cover the “physician services” part of your visits with In Touch, but by covering the lactation portion, your fees will be greatly reduced. Click here to check your benefits!
REIMBURSIFY
Upon request, we will provide you with a Superbill (itemized medical receipt) with all the information you need to submit your fees to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We have partnered with Reimbursify for you to easily submit your claims for out-of-network health insurance reimbursement.
PUT US ON YOUR REGISTRY
A consult or 4th Trimester Package with In Touch Pediatrics and Lactation is easier than ever to pay for when you use the BeHerVillage gift registry. Click here to get your registry started and you can get help with funds for your services from your friends and family! If you are a loved one who would like to give our services as a gift to someone special, please contact us directly for next steps.
PREPAID AND PAYMENT PLANS
If you are not approved by TLN, you can save $102 with the purchase of a pre-paid 3-visit Breastfeeding Medicine Consult package (inquire for more details). This is a great deal as most medical lactation problems require at least 3 visits. Alternatively, we are happy to split your payments up over a period of time upon request.
PATIENT TESTIMONIALS
JANE R.
Dr. Rubin is phenomenal! I went through a lot of challenges while breastfeeding, and felt like I kept getting brushed off by doctors and other Lactation Consultants and put on antibiotics for "suspected mastitis" without ever being seen in person or properly diagnosed. After working with Dr. Rubin, my hyperlactation and recurrent clogs went away and I no longer had to wake up in the middle of the night to pump. Dr. Rubin is extremely thorough, kind and knowledgeable. She's hands on and solution oriented. She spent a long time talking with me, listening to my story, and explaining what was happening. Dr. Rubin was also very empathetic and sensitive towards my severe Postpartum Anxiety and my Health Anxiety. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need of Lactation support! Without her help, I would not have been able to continue breastfeeding until my goal of 1 year. Thank you Dr. Rubin!!
JENNIFER L.
Don't struggle with breastfeeding alone, Dr. Rubin is AMAZING! I exclusively pump and was having issues with pain, engorged breast and low supply to the point where we had to supplement with formula. She does in-home visits which is great because it's a comfortable environment and I didn't have to worry about packing baby up or finding a sitter (she even held, fed and changed him when he fussed!). She is very knowledgeable and provided great resources and tweaks to my pumping routine. I saw MAJOR improvements in supply and no more pain after one visit and I have not looked back since. I went from supplementing with formula to having to freeze breast milk. If I would have known about her prior to giving birth I would have purchased the package. If you are struggling, make the investment, Dr. Rubin is totally worth it!
